BAM’s UK businesses certified gold by the MoD for supporting the Armed Forces community
The Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award is the highest badge of honour for organisations signed with the Armed Forces Covenant.
BAM’s UK businesses have achieved gold award status from the Ministry of Defence, as part of the Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), for their ongoing work supporting the Armed Forces community.
The scheme encompasses bronze, silver and gold awards for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to the Armed Forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant. The Covenant outlines how the government, businesses and communities support Armed Forces personnel past and present throughout the year.
The ERS Gold Awards recognise employers who actively support the Armed Forces community in the workplace, and encourage others to follow their lead. The award scheme, which attracts entries from companies nationwide and across private and public sectors, has seen a rapid increase in participation since it launched in 2014, with 641 active holders in 2023.
Receiving the Gold Award is a testament to the inclusive working environment across BAM’s UK businesses, which allows everyone to bring their whole self to work, feel safe and comfortable, and access opportunities for progression by removing barriers.
BAM’s armed forces commitments across our UK businesses are:
Armed forces personnel, veterans and reservists are a central pillar of the BAM UK workplace culture, resulting in the creation of Forces@BAM, an internal inclusion network for anyone connected to the armed forces, as partners or family, for veterans from the UK forces and forces in other nations in the UK.
Simon Finnie, Executive Director, BAM Ventures, and Executive Sponsor for Forces@BAM said:
“The Gold award is a really important point of recognition for BAM UK, as it shows our commitment to armed services personnel. I’m really proud that we are able to demonstrate supportive policies, opportunities and a network across our business to support not only ex-personnel, but also spouses and partners of those serving in the Armed Forces.”
