BAM places in top 35 of RateMyApprenticeship’s Best Employers 2023

BAM is recognised amongst the top five best apprenticeship employers in the UK in the construction and property sector.

For the second year in a row, BAM has ranked in 34th place in this year’s RateMyApprenticeship Best 100 Employers, joining the likes of Unilever, PwC and BAE Systems. BAM achieved an overall average score of 9/10 and 100% recommendation rate.

Within the construction and property sector alone, BAM has been voted within the top five employers, based on reviews and ratings from current BAM apprentices.

Across BAM in the UK we have over 300 apprentices, with an intake of 65 new apprentices having joined us in September. Applications for next year’s intake open in December.

This result follows a summer of success, as seven BAM apprentices graduated from Leeds College of Building with BSc (Hons) Civil Engineering Site Management at validating institution, Leeds Beckett University.

RateMyApprenticeship collates honest feedback from thousands of young apprentices across all sectors and gives advice and job opportunities to prospective school leavers for their next steps.

Andrea Fisher, Early Careers & Professional Development Manager at BAM in the UK, said:

“We are delighted to once again be in the top 35 of the RateMyApprenticeship top 100 employers awards. Our Early Careers team are particularly proud of this award, as it is based upon the reviews of our own apprentices.

“We have an average score of 9/10, with many apprentices commenting on the fantastic support they receive from their site teams, the early careers team and our partner training providers, in particular Leeds College of Building and Sheffield Hallam University.”

Examples of feedback from BAM apprentices:

“I receive lots of support from my employer in different areas. My site team, site managers, engineers and many more are extremely helpful whilst working on site. I also have an education provider who allows me to attend different events, giving me new and interesting experiences, pushing me in the right direction and progressing my development.”

“Lots of support. We have a dedicated early careers team, which includes our apprenticeship manager. The team is easy to contact, and we have regular monthly meetings scheduled where we can raise any concerns or questions we might have. Members of the early careers team also visited us often in college, to see how we were progressing during our study time.”

“My employer is very good at supporting me through my work. The line managers I have are very good at helping me and explaining things to me even if they are busy. Perform

& Develop sessions and meetings are planned to discuss how I am developing in the workplace and how I feel about workload.”
