BAM breaks ground on Ongar Barnhill Link Road project in Dublin
Fingal County Council has appointed BAM as main contractor for the construction of the Ongar Barnhill Link Road, a new Dublin transport corridor that will promote active travel.
Earmarked as a fast-growing area for residential and commercial development, the construction of the Ongar Barnhill Link Road is set to transform the existing local rural road network in Fingal.
The new transportation corridor will support Fingal’s commitment to the provision of 1,200 new homes, as part of the Barnhill Local Area Plan adopted in February 2019, and will significantly improve accessibility for sustainable and active modes of travel.
The Ongar-Barnhill Link Road project consists of approximately 1.8km of road, footpath and cycling facilities and will run from the Barnwell Roundabout to Barberstown Lane South. A key feature will be a new bridge crossing over the Dunboyne railway line. The new road also provides walking and cycling links to the Royal Canal Greenway, designed to complement the future provision of Dart+ West.

By providing very high-quality roads, paths, and cycle lanes the area benefits immediately from better connectivity and when future housing development begins those homes will already be connected to the community and all the facilities that exist here such as sports centres, childcare, schools, and shops.”
